Published on the occasion of an exhibition organised in cooperation with the self-organized archive Forum Homosexualität München, Gufler combines historical posters and flyers from the collection of the forum with works from 29 artists and collectives invited by Gufler “to question, actualize and expand on the poster collection”, the aim of the exhibition and this publication which traces the history of the queer community in post-war Germany is “not to elicit plainacceptance of non-heterosexual life models within a heterosexual norm model, but instead to demonstrate that only the radical questioning of this norm model can form the basis of a discussion about a sexuality, which is no longer just defined by adaptive performance to nationalistic functional forms of heterosexual demands. The historical brutality of this norming in the FRG, by reference to the continued application of § 175 after 1945, resonates until the present day.”
