On 25.4.2025 we three of Boekie Woekie, organized by Eva Gonggrijp and installed by Kristján Thorlacius Finnsson, will open a small exhibition in the side room of the artists’ club restaurant of Arti et Amicitiae on Rokin 112 here in Amsterdam. Eva coined a name for this show: DRUKDRUKDRUK, a good one.
You'll find on display a selection of our offset printing plates. At some point during our career of more than 50 years as offset printers we realized that they fulfill their function of transferring what is on them just as well by having them looked at by a multitude of people instead of transferring what's on them first onto a multitude of sheets of paper which then are looked at. In that light the whole printing process is an unnecessary detour. In short, everything visible functions as a printing plate. The machines, all not necessary. Just look at what you see as printing plates.
At the opening, Selese Roche and Donald Gardner will read some of their poems and Nico Lootsma will perform the Boekie Woekie Boogie Woogie - for the first time in German! Come on the 25th around 8:30. On the other days the show is accessible during the opening hours of the Arti restaurant..

On 18.4.2025 we will stage, as a first event in the new shop, Nico Lootsma with his traveling Shoebox Gallery. In the shoebox he presents under the title East meets West an exhibition of collaborative works by 3 artists living in the east and 3 artists living in the west of the Netherlands. They are Ricardo Liong-A-Kong, Maartje Jaquet, Fenneke ten Thij, (our) Henriëtte van Egten, Jan Wierda and the Museum of … founded by Rob van de Werdt.

It will be the last occasion to see this Shoebox Gallery exhibition, so do come.

It’s the time of the year when London is in the habit of calling.
Obediently, as almost all the many times before, Boekie Woekie will follow. If you hear these calls too, maybe we’ll meet on Oct 25th and/or 26th 2024 between 11 and 7 at Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, nearest tube Holborn, for this year’s Small Publishers Fair? Vera, coming from Reykjavík and Jan from Amsterdam are looking forward to say hi!
