Countryside Issue No6 / L’Intolérant Boat Stories

Hamelijnck, Robert + Nienke Terpstra + Woodstone Kugelblitz (Eds.)

Regular price €33,00

“Three messages in bottles reached the FGA headquarters that finally lead them to the mysterious Woodstone Kugelblitz. The first bottle was an article in a national newspaper that mentioned some young artist-activists that under the name 'Autodidactisch Front', were preparing a boat to set asail. The second message was an XL stencilled magazine at the WORM-bookshop, full of typewriting, handwriting and drawings, under the name l'Intolérant. The third bottle came over internet, where, on a website for letterpress amateurs, Woodstone Kugelblitz placed an add in search of a letterpress printer, preferably located at the waterside.

One day when FGA just had decided to invite Maja Zomer and Lise Autogena for a Countryside Boat Issue, they finally figured out the different messages where thrown in the water by the same people: Woodstone Kugelblitz-who, meanwhile, after traveling France in their little ship and printing an Atlas on board, had returned back on shore, in Rotterdam.

FGA and WK met and decided to make a double issue: a collaboration that follows the logic of sushi rather than mayonnaise; layered rather than mixed, though some stirring was part of the process. So here you are, FGA Countryside Issue nº 6-Boat Stories, together with l'Intolérant #6 about the charms of the countryside: 'Why didn't we think about the countryside before? Maybe it was always there somehow, but worlds sometime open doors. What more beautiful than "le partage et la mise en commun".’”

Part of “a series of short explorations of contemporary art at the periphery”, with contributions by Woodstone Kugelblitz, Lise Autogena, Maja Zomer, Michael Gibbs and Lawrence Wiener, handprinted by Charlotte and Teun of Woodstone Kugelblitz. With a fold-out page and 3 loose, folded inserts.

Text in English, French and Dutch.
