Estas Imágenes Son Verdad. Microarchivo De La Ignominia

Martínez Zárate, Pablo

Regular price €20,00

“Brief documentary universe that was born from footage found in the Mexican government’s official Youtube channels, processed digitally and projected for its capture in 8, 16, 35 and 120 mm, with several manipulations, including the intervention of one súper 8mm roll with “grana cochinilla” (an ancient Mexican tint). The piece pretends to reveal itself as a gesture that provides a physical place, a material extension of historical denial, as well as to offer a critique to the politics of memory during the government of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto. The microarchive has the form of a container (portafolio) that travels from site to site carrying negatives, silver gelatine prints, digital variations on photographic paper and a catalogue. Here you can take several glances on the material and documentation from the activations, and also find out about future presentations.”

Discussion and documentation of a video work made using government footage that engages with concepts such as truth, history and (collective) memory, with essays by Iván Ruiz and Aline Hernández, and many stills from the video work.
