An ArtEZ/DAI publication in which Aardse documents an art project centred around Samar, a glamorous woman she met in Beirut who presented herself as a belly dancer and then modeled for the artist, but getting back in touch afterwards proved difficult and prompted reflection; this publication lays bare the obstacles faced in this brief interaction, dealing with topics such as identity and perception but also the looming spectre of orientalism, is it possible for two women from different backgrounds to meet in a complete neutral context?
