A series of altered b/w comic book panels featuring palindromic sound effects (bangs, screams, gun shots, etc.), Salerno found a number of panels with such palindromes and then split and duplicated these panels to recreate two similar palindromes for each original (derived from the left and right halves respectively), this time however the visual scenes are mirrored as well, leading to surreal backgrounds; the book itself is palindromic too since the two new versions of each original palindrome appear on opposite sides of the book, with the colophon in the middle, the book can thus be read backwards as well as forwards; by playing with the intersections of sound, text and image Salerno turns these comic book panels into visual sound poems.
