“The photographic artist's book Views from the Inside gives the reader an ability to experience the zoological garden from a bears perspective.
Down in their enclosures we see an artificial nature build up by concrete rocks, old wooden logs, boulders, small ponds, grass and trees. In addition to the black and white views of the bears' environment the book also include colour photographs depicting still lifes with a variety of bear foods.
The pictures in Views from the Inside were photographed with pinhole cameras. Iwo Myrin writes: ’When taking these photographs I tried to imagine how the bears moved around and what they saw, and so I sought to place the camera as if it was a bear.’”
A series of photographs from the bear enclosure of the Skansen Zoo in Stockholm, pictures of the surroundings are reproduced b/w while pictures of the bears’ food are reproduced in colour, with brief text fragments in English.
