After acquiring a signed postcard of Vaudeville duo Williams & Walker from around 120 years ago, Thompson sets off on an investigation into Williams & Walker, two black performers who critically engaged with the widespread practice of minstrelsy among white Vaudeville performers; the investigation is a personal one, with Thompson taking on the role of Williams, while exploring his faith in addition to the Harlem meeting place for black entertainers established by Williams & Walker; all these threads come together in text and photo works exhibited in meaningful locations in Harlem and documented in this publication.
