Я M A (Pit)

Prigov, Dmitri

Regular price €80,00

A handmade, samizdat-style pamphlet with a concrete-poem-like work consisting of the same text in Russian reflecting on a pit of nothingness printed on 5 consecutive recto pages, the printed text (likely carbon copied from an original typewritten text) is quite clear and distinct on the first page but grows increasingly faint until on the fifth and final repetition it can hardly be read, meanwhile several concentric squares have been cut into the printed pages revealing little black square in the centre of the penultimate, otherwise blank page, the result is a work that cleverly uses its own material and construction to create depth and embody its subject: a hole that consumes and erases all which falls into it.

Stapled, 19 x 13 cm, 16 not numbered paged, Moscow/Moskva 1985
