This conceptual work takes the form of a multilingual user manual in which the artist describes how to use the so-called ‘ashpastels’, which are drawing pastels made from burned texts; the ashes of 7 widely different texts were used for this project, from the script of Goodfellas to a 1987 ministerial budget report, each chalk is said to produce lines reminiscent of the original text according to the manual descriptions, thus posing questions about materiality, creativity and destruction, text in Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, French, Greek, Italian, Polish, Romanian, and Serbian.
