“The Odlot" Gallery is run by members of the Home in the Neighborhood" community. It consists of eight individuals with intellectual disabilities who, by implementing an original improvement program, demonstrate that people often relegated to vegetating in social care homes-or even in family homes-can lead fulfilling lives and work creatively. They live together in Łódź, in two apartments. For many years, they have been learning and working six days a week in the Creative Workshop, improving their skills and developing themselves. They create works based on their own designs in fields such as painting, traditional and digital graphics, art installations, unique textiles, and also produce practical objects. They also work in the gallery, co-creating it and learning to take on a new role in interacting with visitors. Over time, it has become clear that art, as a byproduct of the development of the „Home in the Neighborhood" residents, holds undeniable value. Their presence in the gallery enhances that value, allowing them to be seen as open, kind, and eager to establish connections with others.”
Reproduced pencil, pen, and crayon drawings with vivid colours made by artists with intellectual disabilities who live and practice art together in their own community, with several reproduced photographs of the community and a who’s who of the artists.
