“The wind made the pages of my empty sketchbook rustle and then fall back. The shadows of the wind-moving plants moved over them again. The wind and shadow play a game that keeps varying and that you can watch endlessly. A phenomenon that cannot easily be captured in a still image.
But this booklet touches on this experience. The shape of the publication forces you to flip through it. You cannot open the pages, you can only let the pages flip through your fingers. Whereupon the shadows move again the pages rustle again.
A book about a book in motion, which you have to set in motion again yourself. A meta-story that does not become abstract, has managed to capture the fleetingness of the shadow, and brings a warm afternoon to life.”
This publication tenderly documents the shadow of a tree over a book with blank pages. There is no text to be found in this publication; the shadow becomes the ephemeral content onto the pages. Its only permanence is preserved through the photographic documentation which makes up ‘Rustling Shadows.
