Test Mode

“It is often said that the beauty of Risograph is in the ‘little mistakes.’ In that case, there is something to be seen within these prints, because this book is composed of these mistakes.”

The contents of this zine are the result of a laborious series of ‘test mode’ commands aimed to clean the ink drums of a vintage RP3700:

“It was in this state of exhaustion and near-desperation that I found myself entranced by the thick overlapping colors and the unique gradations that were appearing before my eyes. In this hypnotic ‘runner’s high’ equivalent of technical maintenance, the essence of the Risograph was emerging, clear and unvarnished. Every scratchy, uneven grid that the machine squeezed through its 24-year old gear system revealed a clarity born from its struggle of restoration.”

A series of hypnotic colour grids interspersed with cut-out pages of various shapes.
