Henriëtte van 't Hoog (1943) has been working professionally as a visual artist since 1970. Over the past five decades, she has changed tack several times in her work. For her, the often surprising settlements with earlier work were as natural as they were necessary revisits of idiom, style and use of materials to take a position within contemporary art. It led to internationally appreciated work that can be seen in numerous places around the world. This book shows the coherence within her multifaceted oeuvre. The transformations within it determine the structure of the book; they are explained and placed in perspective. For all the diversity, this overview also shows, above all, a constant, idiosyncratic attention to form and colour.
This book contains many full-colour reproductions of art works using different media, accompanied by an essay by Alex de Vries, and an interview with the artist by Ine Dammers, all text in Dutch.
